🌀 Excitement vs enjoyment

Because business is personal. This newsletter is dedicated to your own alignment journey.
I constantly looked forward to the future until I realized I never got there. It’s always over the horizon. I learned to enjoy the rainbow instead of always chasing it.
Hi ! đź‘‹
Let's talk about living in the moment, this moment right now. More specifically, let's discuss the difference between excitement and enjoyment, and how it impacts our daily lives.
Excitement is often associated with anticipation for future events or experiences. It's the thrill of something yet to come, and while it can be exhilarating, it's not really living in the present moment. It's more like passing through life, waiting for the next exciting thing to happen.
On the other hand, living in enjoyment is all about soaking up the present moment, no matter what you're doing. It's finding joy and gratitude in daily living, like answering emails, cleaning dishes, organizing a closet, or driving in traffic.
The key is to shift our mindset and approach these activities with a sense of enjoyment, instead of just going through the motions. When we live in enjoyment, we're fully present and engaged with what we're doing, instead of just looking forward to big things to come.
Enjoyment is a combination of joy and gratitude. It's about recognizing and appreciating the things that we have and engage with, and how they contribute to our lives. Things we did not create ourselves that have showed up in our lives. The list of these things is endless. By living in enjoyment, we're able to soak up the moment and thrive in the present, rather than constantly looking forward to the future.
Living in alignment is all about living with greater intention. So, the next time you find yourself looking forward to something exciting, take a breath and intentionally soak up the present moment. I still surprise myself with just how good it feels when I’m intentionally enjoy the present — instead of just being excited about things over the horizon. The day doesn’t fly by without me any longer. I live it.
Enjoyment is not contingent upon the activity itself, it's contingent upon how you show up to it and engage in it with joy & gratitude. So, start practicing gratitude and finding joy in this moment right now, and watch as your life becomes more fulfilling and enjoyable. Your days will be more meaningful and in alignment with how you want to live, personally and professionally,
Cheers,Rachel
