πŸŒ€[replay] Taking advantage of your upcoming white space

⏳ White space is your loading program for your future. βŒ›οΈ

"This is the Construct. It's our loading program. We can load anything, from clothes to equipment, weapons, training simulation, anything we need."

How do you know if you are avoiding white space?

  • If your schedule always needs to be booked

  • If you are always listening to or watching something to distract from being with your self

  • If you avoid having time with your self

Simply put, what is your intention when consuming (tv, news, social media, food, music, podcasts, etc)?

Prefer to avoid white space? I get it β€” I did for a long time. If knowing what comes next gives you a feeling of safety or certainty or if being with your thoughts seems hard, being in white space can feel uncomfortable when you first start since it's a blank space β€” but that's the point. White space is time to discover, connect more deeply, ask questions, get curious, welcome new insights & continuously improve.

How could you ever create a future that is most aligned with what you want without connecting your actions to your intentions? How could you possibly ponder this question effectively without being in white space?

White space takes many forms What you do may not be on this list below since everyone is different. The important thing is that you do something that is aligned with you to create white space. This may include:

  • πŸ“†Scheduling 90 minutes on the calendar as white space

  • πŸ‘ŸGoing on a meditative walk or hike

  • 🍽Having a meal where everyone is fully present

  • 🏝Having vacation time without a packed itinerary

  • 🎧Listening to music that isn't distracting

  • 🎨Engaging in art

  • 😌Sitting with your eyes closed

  • 🚿Taking a shower

  • ✨ Being fully present with your self and/or others

The most important part is to set your intention of entering the white space itself. Why are you here? What do you hope to gain? Is there something you are ready to realize?

πŸ’‘ Tip: Have a single place that's easily accessible where you can write down your ah-ha's and easily find them later. For example: journal, note on your phone, Google doc, page on Notion, or texting yourself.

How to engage in white space with creating greater alignment in mind Doing this will make your time in white space much more meaningful. βž‘️ Let's begin1. Take a deep breath and let it out slowly. Really feel your feet on the floor. Relax your muscles from head to toe.2. Observe or write down what comes up for you when you contemplate the following question:

  • "Are your actions accurately reflecting your priorities and intentions?"

3. Observe or write down what comes up for you when you ponder the following question:

  • β€œWhat is your intention?" (FYI: you get to choose it)

  • If you are unsure, that's okay! Many times, white space is used as time to clarify your intentions (i.e what you want to create, to resolve, or to be).

4. If you'd like to continue and connect your intention to your priorities, observe or write down what comes up for you when you ask this question:

  • "Given your intention, what are your priorities?"

  • FYI: Priorities are things that you consider to be highly important, having significant impact.

5. If you'd like to continue and connect each priority to the relevant actions, observe or write down what comes up for you when you ask the following:

  • "Given this priority and intention, what action are you taking / will you be taking next?”

  • Ask this for each priority.

6. Going forward, you can take time in white space to iterate on the alignment you've created β€” to continue connecting your intentions with your priorities and actions β€” by pondering the following questions:

  • "What would you like to do more of and what intention is this connected to?"

  • "What would you like to do less of and what intention is this connected to?"

I encourage you to come back to the place of white space

To create white space with others, personally or professionally

Deepen connection, dismantle barriers, and allow for white space to create greater alignment.

β€”

1. "What would you like to do/see more of and what is your intention?"

2. "What would to do/see less of and what is your intention?"

3. "I heard you say xxxx. Did I get that right?"

4. Ask the other person follow-up questions instead of offering your opinion immediately on what they said.

If you want to thrive, you need white space to live and work in alignment πŸ’«

It is in white space that I've connected seemingly disparate ideas and concepts to the big picture of alignment from a variety of places including:
